“UNESCO CULTURAL CENTER RECOGNIZES OUTSTANDING YOUNG PEOPLE IN MAYAGÜEZ AMONG THEM BJM DIRECTOR-ADMINISTRATOR”
On January 17, 2017, before a full house at the Ateneo de Puerto Rico, Antonio J. Molina awarded certificates of recognition to thirty young people in different disciplines residing in Puerto Rico, including doctors, lawyers, musicians, artists, scientists, and journalists, among others. From the city of Mayagüez, in consultation with the Mayor, Honorable Jose Guillermo Rodríguez and Professor Gloria Marini, National President of the Union Hispanomundial de Escritores, five young people were nominated, among them was the Director of the Mayagüez Children’s Library Josseant Flores Cruz, a graduate in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez (UPRM) with a Teaching Certificate in Science and Mathematics from the same institution. Flores Cruz has worked as a researcher at UPRM and the University of Wisconsin at Madison on renewable energy and biomass issues; as a volunteer of the educational initiative Nanodays of the UPRM and for the past four years as Director/Administrator of the Children’s Library where he has created bilingual community library projects, offering a space where our young people can study, do their assignments, develop their work skills through volunteering and helping the community with their talents.
