We are hoping that you and your families are all well in these difficult times. At the library, we continue working, though in a different way from several months ago, but with the same desire to offer excellent educational and cultural services for children and young people of Puerto Rico.
Taking advantage of the forced closing of our facilities, we have renewed our physical space; we have laid a new vinyl floor, closed off a small meeting/lunch room, repaired and painted walls, and are now in the process of streamlining and up-dating our collections of books. The duplicates and other books we remove will be donated to community centers around western PR.
In addition, thanks to the support of the Puerto Rican Foundation for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities, we have been able to offer virtual workshops for teachers on ways to make teaching reading and literature more meaningful.
We are grateful for your unconditional support and want to continue to have you among our Friends. Your contributions to the lives of Puerto Rican children and young people are of incalculable value! Thank you for being part of the Mayagüez Children’s Library family.
Cordially,
