The need is urgent. Western Puerto Rico, from Aguadilla to Hormigueros, is an area of great income inequality and poverty.
The public education system in Puerto Rico faces severe challenges, with many schools operating in sub-optimal conditions, lacking adequate spaces for intellectual growth and extracurricular activities. Many public schools have been forced to close their libraries starting in 2024. In addition, many homes lack adequate internet access, further limiting educational opportunities and exposure to critical technological skills. Our children cannot wait for the system to change. Every day lost is a lost opportunity to transform a life.
Education is the best antidote to poverty.
More than half of our beneficiaries live below the poverty line, so all our programs are designed with two clear objectives:
-
Provide children and young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty.
-
Build a future full of possibilities.

Simply providing access to books, reading material, and educational activities broadens children's horizons. We encourage active parental involvement in their children's education because we know that collaboration between families and the community is essential to children's success.
Modern libraries are engines of transformation and growth.
We firmly believe that libraries are essential to eradicating childhood poverty and creating a brighter future for our community. As community ambassadors, we champion the vital role libraries play in the lives of our children and youth. Our programs have included free tutoring, summer educational workshops, technology training, STEM activities, art workshops, chess classes, English classes, and much more. These resources are crucial for families who would otherwise not have access to them. Your donation can transform lives.
